The body of an 83-year-old East Mountains woman who was reported missing to law enforcement on June 16 has been found.
On Tuesday, June 18, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office alerted media about a missing person, Bonny Dumond, and asked that information be disseminated to help bring in tips regarding her whereabouts.
Rumors online indicated that a body was found in the East Mountains as early as Friday, June 21. Until Tuesday, June 25, BCSO declined to comment on the status of Dumond’s disappearance or whether a body had in fact been found.
BCSO now says they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Dumond, whose body was found on June 21 near Tijeras.
Dumond was last seen by friends on the evening of June 14. She lived alone near Chilili, just a 7-minute drive from her last known location in Edgewood.
Following her disappearance, BCSO initiated a search that included air support, drones, and BCSO Open Space.
The cause of and the circumstances leading to Dumond’s death are still under investigation. BCSO is asking anyone with any information related to the case to speak with detectives by calling 505-798-7000.
