The Town of Edgewood has planned a spectacular summer full of more than 20 events through June and July. The community is marking a big milestone, the 25th anniversary of the town’s municipal incorporation on July 1, 1999.

This week’s fun-filled, four-day carnival at Venus Park kicks off the summer’s festivities. Expect a wide array of rides including thrillers for teens and adults, just-right pleasures for the pint-sized set, and a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

No carnival is complete without the friendly competition found on the game-filled Midway. Whether you are testing your skills or challenging a friend, it’s always great fun to see whose accuracy or good luck will take the prize — perhaps even walking away with a giant stuffed animal.

The Midway will also feature classic favorites like funnel cakes and nachos.

All amusements are brought to Edgewood by Sun Valley Rides, operated by second-generation carnival professional Steve Mattfeldt. He and his traveling experts pride themselves on providing a safe environment geared toward families and their budgets.

Families are welcome for a big afternoon or an evening of activities amongst the bright lights. Organizers say it is the perfect start to Edgewood’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The carnival runs from Thursday, June 6, through Sunday, June 9, at Venus Park in Edgewood. The full schedule of all Edgewood25 events is available at Edgewood25.com.

The Independent is a proud media sponsor of Edgewood’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
